CosMos
We at CosMos can't seem to wrap our heads around the odd exlcusion of one of the most iconic characters of the Matrix mythos. We'll certainly miss his wise and controlled bravado as the counter balance to Neo's general hero's angst. I guess we'll have to wait and see, check out the article we've shared below and let us know what you think!

Laurence Fishburne Doesn't Understand Why Morpheus Isn't in Matrix 4
Actor Laurence Fishburne says he doesn't know why he wasn't asked to reprise his role as Morpheus in the upcoming fourth Matrix film.
BY MICHAEL MCDONALDPUBLISHED JUN 29, 2021
The Matrix star Laurence Fishburne confirmed he won't be returning as Morpheus in The Matrix 4. However, he's still not sure why.
Fishburne was asked by Collider if the constant questions about his potential appearance in the currently untitled fourth Matrix film become tiring, especially considering he already confirmed his status last year. "I am not in the next Matrix movie," Fishburne said. "You'd have to ask [Matrix 4 director] Lana Wachowski why because I don't have an answer for that."
Fishburne's name was notably absent from the film's cast list, while Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are both set to reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively. It was later confirmed that Jada Pinkett-Smith would return as Niobe, the role she played in The Matrix's two sequels. Actor Hugo Weaving was in discussions to play Agent Smith in the fourth Matrix film, but Wachowski reportedly "pulled the plug" on the negotiations due to scheduling conflicts.
New cast members have been steadily joining the project in undisclosed roles, including Aquaman's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick and Mindhunter's Jonathan Groff. Addams Family actor Christina Ricci also recently joined the cast, having previously worked with Wachowski on the 2008 live-action Speed Racer.

While it appears that Fishburne will not return to The Matrix franchise, he will be reunited again with co-star Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 4, reprising his role as The Bowery King.
Directed by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix 4 stars Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity and Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff and Christina Ricci in undisclosed roles. The film arrives in theaters and on HBO Max Dec. 22.
